We all know at a fundamental level that art plays a pivotal role in our lives. Even if we can't quite put our finger on it, we know that it's more than just entertainment or a commodity. That there's an aspect to art that's core to our human experience. Exploring that question is what lead us to making this film.
Our Story
Eugenia has been a practicing artist for years, using her art as a method for healing and connection. Derek is a young filmmaker who's insatiable curiosity has lead him on the path of exploring the connection across disciplines. Together they've teamed up to investigate the age old dichotomy of "art vs. science".
New data and studies have been exploring the effects of art on the brain, giving empirical evidence to a field that was previously solely anecdotal. This film aims to explore those new discoveries, unpacking how the old world view became, how these studies are shifting that model, and how artists and beneficiaries have been aware of these benefits before science could record them.
